In February 2023, following the devastating earthquake that decimated over 350,000 square kilometers of Syrian and Turkish territory, equivalent to the total area of Germany, FOR Foundation immediately decided to support Medair to enable rapid intervention in Syria and Turkey.
In just 6 months, Medair was able to assist over 100,000 people across the affected area!
The field team worked tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of local populations by providing tangible assistance in various areas:
• Construction of temporary shelters
• Psychosocial support
• Rehabilitation of healthcare centers
• Sports and artistic activities with children
« It is the needs that determine who receives our help, » summarizes Damon Elsworth, head of the emergency response team. Over the past six months, Medair has established strong relationships of trust and collaboration with numerous government agencies, as well as civil organizations and churches. Operations in Syria and Turkey are conducted separately.
As media interest wanes, Medair is intensifying its operations.
